The WC Heralds volleyball team has three seniors on it this season. All three of these student/athletes have left their legacy on a successful program by continuing to exemplify the winning culture that is WC Volleyball. Led by Captain and setter, Clare Jordan, a three year player and two year starter on Varsity, in conjunction with Katy Verbeck, senior Oppo and OH, and, senior MB, Lauren Buckner, the ladies from WC rolled over Maranatha 3-0 to complete the season sweep and solidify a CIF Division 4 Playoff birth for next week.
A rowdy “Zone” and Taco Night home crowd made for an incredible atmosphere to witness the honoring of the three seniors. Clare Jordan finished with a team high 23 assists along with 6 digs. Senior OP Katy Verbeck had a great match with 6 kills. Lauren Buckner was her usual steady self, contributing with strong net play and adding 1 kill.
Other top performers included Makena Morrison with 14 kills, 3 aces and 12 digs. Haden Bones had 8 kills, 3 aces and 18 digs. Giselle Ramirez topped the team tonight with 4 aces. Grace Ford added 4 kills and a block.
WCHS has a non-league finale tomorrow night, 6:15 pm, at home vs. a top Div. 4 team in South Pasadena. Come on out and cheer on the Heralds as they look to carry over their winning ways into next weeks CIF-SS Divisional playoffs.
