The Lady Heralds opened Olympic League play with a 43-37 loss to the visiting Village Christian Crusaders. Seniors Shelly Vasquez and Amaya Norris fueled the offense in the first half by scoring 20 of the Heralds 22 first half points. Whittier Christian went cold in the 3rd quarter and fell behind 36-29. The Heralds climbed back in the 4th but couldn’t catch the Crusaders at the end. Vasquez ended up being the only Lady Herald to reach double figures with 14 points to go with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Norris had a big night on the boards with a team high 12 rebounds (5 offensive), 9 points, and 2 steals. The Heralds record goes to 17-2 overall and 0-1 in Olympic League. Whittier Christian returns to league action next week and will travel to Heritage Christian for a 5:30 pm game on Tuesday, January 14.
