The Lady Heralds suffered a 39-38 loss to King’s School (Seattle, Washington) in the championship game of the Ontario Christian Knight Time Classic Saturday evening. After only scoring 4 points in the first quarter, the Lady Heralds clawed their way back in a very physical contest and took the lead in the 4th quarter but ultimately fell a point short at the end. In a dramatic finish, Center Clairessa Watkin’s bank shot with 4 seconds appeared to go in but rimmed out with 2 seconds left. On the ensuing end bound play, forward Jamee Joseph was able to tip the pass and guard Joleen Corona grabbed the loose ball but was not able to get her shot (that banked in) off before the buzzer sounded. Freshman Aidan Sherfey was the game’s leading scorer with 12 points making 5 of her 8 filed goal attempts to go along with a team high 3 steals. Joleen Corona scored 8 points, dished out 3 assists and grabbed 2 steals. Jamee Joseph made 3 of her 4 field goal attempts for 6 points. Aidan Sherfey and Joleen Corona both made the all tournament team. The Division 1A squad from Washington ended the Lady Heralds 12 game win streak and their season record goes to 16-2. The Lady Heralds will open Olympic League play at home against Heritage Christian on January 3rd.
