For the second game in a row, all 10 Lady Heralds scored in a 72-18 victory over the La Habra Highlanders in the first round of pool play in the Leon Davis Classic at Whittier Christian High. The Heralds used a stifling defense in the first half to limit the visiting Highlanders to 5 points at intermission while Whittier Christian made 50% of their field goal attempts. Leading the offense was guard Joleen Corona who scored 20 points while making 4 of her 6 three point attempts to go along with 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Forward Shelly Vasquez had a team high 7 assists while snatching 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Forward Amaya Norris had a great all around effort by tallying 7 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Forward Jamee Joseph grabbed a team high 9 rebounds while scoring 4 points. Forward Juliette Corona and center Clairessa Watkins both had 3 steals (team highs). Corona also contributed 7 points while Watkins scored 9 points. Forward Aiden Sherfey just fell short of double digit scoring with 9 points while guard Emma Eaton hit two three’s for 6 points. Center Hailey Gainer and guard Skylar Sherfey each scored 4 points. The Heralds improve their season record to 7-1. They take on San Gabriel High at 6 pm Wednesday in a second round game of the tournament.
