The Lady Heralds advanced to the championship game for the third year in a row of the Knight Time Classic with a 62-34 victory over the Norco High Cougars. In a third round semifinal game, the hot shooting Heralds in tandem with a tenacious defensive effort built a 37-17 halftime lead. Whittier Christian was led by senior Joleen Corona’s 23 points on a 10 for 21 shooting night (3 of 4 three pointers) along with 4 steals. Junior Haley Gainer just missed recording another double double in consecutive games with 9 points (3 of 4 from the field) and 9 rebounds. Senior Skylar Sherfey scored 8 points going 2 of 4 behind the 3 point line and grabbed 3 rebounds. Junior Juliette Corona led the team with 5 steals and scored 4 points. Senior Shelly Vasquez had a team high 3 assists while grabbing 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Senior Amaya Norris chipped in 6 points (3 of 6 field goals) and snatched 5 defensive boards. Junior Emma Eaton hit 2 long range three pointers for 6 points and dished out 2 assists. Sophomore Aidan Sherfey rounded out the scoring with 3 points and recorded 2 rebounds. The 15-1 Lady Heralds will play the 14-1 host Ontario Christian Lady Knights in the 6:00 pm championship game Monday evening.
