The host Whittier Christian Lady Heralds were defeated by the Village Christian Crusaders Friday evening 47-40. The Heralds built a 27-20 half-time lead but were outscored in the 3rd quarter by 11. Whittier Christian stayed close and were down one with just over 3 minutes to go. The Lady Heralds were led in scoring by sophomore Skylar Sherfey who went 6 for 9 from the field to score 14 points while tallying a team high 3 steals on defense. Sophomore Joleen Corona was the only other Herald to reach double figures scoring 10 points while passing out a team high 3 assists. Sophomores Juliette Corona and Shelly Vasquez each added 6 points each. The Lady Heralds finish out Olympic league play with an important road game at Valley Christian on Tuesday evening at 5:30. A victory will clinch 2nd place in the Olympic league standings. Whittier Christian is now 4-3 in league and 18-6 overall.
