The Whittier Christian Lady Heralds were defeated Tuesday evening 33-29 by the host Valley Christian Crusaders. After being down 8 points at half the Heralds cut the Crusader lead to 21-19 mid-way through the 3rd quarter but never were able to take the lead. The Heralds were led in scoring by center Clairessa Watkins who tallied 10 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Joleen Corona scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Forward Shelly Vasquez had a team high 8 rebounds to go along with her 4 points. The Heralds finish league play with a 4-4 record and are 18-7 overall. Depending on the outcomes of Thursday evening’s league games, the Lady Heralds will fininsh tied for 2nd or 3rd. Whittier Christian will host the Shalhevet High Firehawks in the Leon Davis Event Center for a non-conference game Thursday evening at 6 pm.
