The host Whittier Christian Lady Heralds rolled to a 59-18 victory over La Habra High in the third game of the Leon Davis Classic tournament. The Heralds made 8 three pointers (8-19: 42%) to fuel the offense. The Heralds stingy defense held the Lady Highlanders scoreless in the 4th quarter. Sophomore Joleen Corona went 5-10 from the three point line to lead the Heralds with 20 points and was the leading rebounder with 8 boards. Sophomore Shelly Vasquez hit 3 deep three pointers (3-5) to tally 15 points for the second game in a row and had a team high 4 steals. Corona and Vasquez each dished out a team high 5 assists. Rounding out the players reaching double figures was junior Clairessa Watkins who scored 10 points while grabbing 6 rebounds. Kayla Solomon came off the bench to score 7 points and 6 rebounds. Contributors to the Heralds dominance on the boards included freshman Juliette Corona (5), senior Sierra Gohl (5), and freshman Madison Curby (5). Whittier Christian improves to 6-2. The Lady Heralds will play for the championship of the Leon Davis Classic Friday evening at 7:30 against Glendora High Tartans.
