The Herald Varsity Baseball team played a non-league contest today against the visiting Whitney High School Wildcats. The Heralds scored early and often to win 14-2, in a game that was wet and wild.
It was a pitching by committee day, with Dillon Crain getting the start and Chad Green and Brian Green getting in some work as well. The staff gave up 2 runs on 3 hits, striking out 5 and walking only one. Chad Green notched his second win of the young season.
On offense, every Herald starter had at least one hit, and 11 in total as a team. Chad Green led the way going 2 for 2 with 2 doubles, a walk, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Brian Greene was 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Matt Pritchard had the big blow, a bases loaded triple, scoring on a bobbled relay. Matt ended up 1 for 2, the big triple, a walk, 3 RBIs and a run scored. Dillon Crain was 1 for 1 with a double, 2 RBIs, a hit by pitch and 2 runs scored. Also getting hits were Alex Escobar, Joe Hernandez, Andrew Gonzalez, Brandon Ybarra and Elijah Camarena. Brandon also scored twice.
The Heralds open up Olympic League play this Friday at home against Maranatha High School at 3:30 pm.
