Heralds News · Heralds Beat California HS to Extend Win Streak to 5!

Looking to win its fifth match in a row, the Whittier Christian High School Boys Varsity Volleyball team hosted the Condors from California High School at the Leon Davis Events Center.

The Heralds continue to improve on their season having defeated some very good teams recently on their way to a five game winning streak and an 8-2 mark overall in the young season.

The Heralds continue to search for some consistency as they start each match, tonight was no different falling behind early and getting down at one point 16-23. However, perseverance is what is preached, and volleyball is a game of momentum changes. Momentum suddenly changed and with timely hitting and key serving, with some big blocks thrown in, the boys of WC turned it around and won the first set 27-25.

The second and third sets were much more consistent, with the Heralds working on some aspects of their team game.

Setter Brady Coleman had 36 assists, setting up team leader Hunter Morrison with 13 kills, Blake Helvin with 12 kills, followed by Tristan Bennett with 5 kills and Matt Heller with 3 kills. Libero Aaron Hernandez led the team tonight with 9 total digs and Matt Heller controlled the net with a game high 5 solo blocks.

The Heralds will be playing in the prestigious Long Beach Invitational. It is a tournament that will truly test their mettle and preparedness.
