Girls Varsity Swimming · Sarah Isip Finishes CIF Finals Swim Meet with a Gold and Bronze

Sarah had an outstanding performance in the water this week.  She went in to CIF seeded 5th in both of events, finished Prelims at the top of the pack and then returned to the water Friday night to hold her positions in the rankings. Sarah earned a total of 38.5 points by herself, finishing the Whittier Christian High School team standings at 19th place, out of 81 teams.
Sarah started her night off swimming the 200 Individual Medley. Her entry time was 2:14.57, achieved a personal best 2:10.62 in Prelims and finished tonight’s Finals with a 2:11.25, earning her a 3rd place finish.  This is 1 place higher than last year’s finish with a time that was 7 seconds faster.  She has shown great improvements in her Butterfly and Backstroke, helping her achieve these big time drops.  After a little bit of rest, Sarah was back in the water for her final event, the 100 Breastroke.  Sarah’s entry time was 1:09.45, matching her last year’s CIF finals time, achieved another personal best 1:07.34 in the Prelims and then finished tonight’s FInals with a 1:07.53.  Her race was neck-to-neck with a swimmer from Foothill Technology & Maranatha, but Sarah pulled it out at the end to tie for 1st place with Foothill Technology swimmer.
Sarah also had the honor of being interviewed with the OC Register after her 1st place finish.  You can read about it at: ocregister.com/division-4-swimming-finals
With these top seeded finishes Sarah Isip qualified for California State Championships, scheduled for next weekend 5/10-5/11 in Clovis, CA.  Thank you to all who have prayed for her and cheered her on!
