Boys Varsity Swimming, Girls Varsity Swimming · Herald Swim finishes 2nd place in Olympic League Meet!

WCHS swimmers achieved the highest league meet points in school history!  While Maranatha’s swim team continues to be larger, Whittier Christian’s team is growing and becoming stronger.
Abby Blackwell and Nicole Tiffany were promoted to Varsity girls swim this week to join Lizzie Tanklage and Sarah Isip. With 4 Varsity swimmers on the roster, we were able to compete in the 200 Individual Medley Relay and 200 Freestyle Relay. Both relays finished 2nd place and just missed the CIF qualifying cuts, less than 5/10s of a second away in both. Sarah had some strong competition in her events but achieved personal best times, pulling out a 1st place win in both and achieving 2 more CIF times (1:01.40 in 100 Butterfly & 1:09.45 in 100 Breaststroke). The other 3 girls had season best in their individual events as well (50 Freestyle & 100 Freestyle for Abby, 50 Freestyle for Nicole and 100 Breaststroke for Lizzie).
Zak was able to earn 4 points all by himself in Varsity, with some personal best times achieved.
Both JV girls and JV boys really pushed their limits, swimming more events and relays than ever before, with Hannah Tobin and Katelyn Cruz completing the 200 Freestyle (longest JV event, 8 laps)!
Way to go swimmers!!!
