Girls Varsity Tennis · Girls Tennis defeats Heritage Christian on Senior Day


Today marked the second meeting between the Heralds girls tennis team and Heritage Christian with the Heralds coming into the match 1-0. The first round started off well for Whittier Christian as all 3 singles players, Kayla Koba, Hawoo Shim and Eliana Williams, had a great showing pulling in 3 points. The doubles teams of Rachel Kosaka/Monet Munoz and Scarlett Gu/Sammi Sanchez rounded out the wins giving the Heralds a 5-1 advantage after the first round of play. Going into the second round, the singles lineup of Koba, Shim and Williams did not let down as all 3 won their sets. Kosaka and Munoz continued to be a threat on the doubles side. Entering the third round the Heralds were looking poised to win as Koba and Shim once again pulled through and went 3-3 on the day. Kosaka and Munoz also went 3-3 against all the Heritage doubles teams.

Overall it was a great team effort as the girls defeated Heritage 15-3 on their senior day. After the match, the 5 tennis seniors were honored for all their effort and hard work throughout all their years of playing. The Tennis seniors include: Kayla Koba, Hawoo Shim, Eliana Williams, Rachel Kosaka and Scarlett Gu. We are very proud of all our seniors and thank them tremendously for their leadership this season.

The Heralds will face Valley Christian away on Thursday in another league match. Go Heralds!!
