Boys Varsity Football · Quinn Commans…An Amazing Career as the Herald Quarterback!

The Herald football team has finished the 2017 season, and therefore we saw the end of the career of our quarterback Quinn Commans.  Quinn actually started his varsity experience by playing in two games as a freshman.  Due to some injuries to the quarterbacks of the 2014 season, Quinn was brought up to varsity from the JV team and he proceeded to pass for 380 yards and 7 touchdowns in the games against Sonora and Maranatha.  That was just the beginning of an amazing career as the Herald QB!

Quinn has since gone on to shatter most of the football passing records at WCHS and has been vaulted into the record books in Orange County and in California.  Once this football season is complete (CIF playoffs) we will see where Quinn finishes in the record books, but he has been a part of accomplishing a lot…as you will see below.  No quarterback could do things like this alone, so we want to give a special shout out to the offensive linemen, receivers, running backs and coaches over the years who have been a huge part of these accomplishments!

Quinn, over the course of his 4-year career, has thrown for 10,183 yards!  Quinn has also thrown 99 touchdown passes over his 4-year career!  These totals will put him as one of the leaders in our area, county and state!  Quinn played in all 32 Herald games during that stretch, meaning that he played when he was hurt and banged up at times for sure. Quinn was first-team All-League as a sophomore and junior.  He was the Olympic League offensive MVP in his junior season along with being All-CIF in 2016.  Quinn set an Orange County record when he threw for 9 touchdowns in the game against Bell High in 2016, and that performance also tied the CIF Southern Section record for touchdown passes in a single game!  Quinn’s senior season awards are still pending.

We congratulate Quinn for his outstanding career and wish him the best as he continues to pursue his sport in college.  In the meantime, Quinn will be helping to lead our Herald basketball team.
