Congratulations to the Lady Herald Softball Team for an outstanding run in the CIF playoffs! After early round wins over Nordhoff and Nuview Bridge in the Division Six CIF playoffs, the Heralds found themselves up against a tough team from St. Anthony High in Long Beach.
In front of a huge crowd at Whittier Christian High, the Saints took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but Hailey Gallegos tied it up with a towering home run to deep center field in the bottom of the second. The Saints grabbed another one-run lead in the third inning, but senior Bri Preciado tied it up with a deep sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third. Senior Allisyn Udell pitched well and kept the Heralds in a tight ball game and only gave up one earned run for the whole contest. The Saints took control of the game scoring two runs in the sixth inning and another in the 7th, but the Heralds were not quite done fighting. The Heralds scored a run in the bottom of the 7th to get closer, and had some chances, but a hard ground ball up the middle finished the Herald season.
We are proud of our team and thank them for an exciting season to watch!
